Is the CHURCH the BRIDE and the BODY?
The Church has typically been pictured as the bride of Christ. However, Revelation 21:2 depicts the bride as the “holy city”. Interpreters of Scripture differ in defining such terms as “bride”, “wife” and “the body of Christ”, in the context of the Church. Although there is figurative language spoken in the scriptures, it is important that Believers learn the importance of rightly dividing the Word of truth (2Timothy 2:15). The body of Christ is called “a perfect man” (Ephesians 4:13). The identity of the corporate body of Christ is always referred to in the male gender. Scripture identifies the term “bride” in the female gender. In this series, Pastor Frederick Price, Jr. presents an in-depth examination of the bride of Christ.
