Jesus refers to Himself as the true Vine in John 15:1-8.  The vine illustrates the nature of the believer's relationship with Jesus.  As the vine, Jesus supplies each branch with the nourishment needed to bear fruit.  His desire is that they "abide in Me, and My words abide in you..." and "that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples" (John 15:7, 8).  Apart from the intimate and close relationship expressed in the word "abide" the believer can do nothing for the kingdom.  In Part 11A of this twelve-part series, Dr. Price makes a clear argument that these verses are speaking of the fruitfulness of a Christian, not salvation.

Dr. Price defines the term "branch" in John 15:2.

Dr. Price credits the idea of communion to the word "abide" in John 15:4.

The fruitless branch that does not abide in the vine is taken away.  This warning applies to all who pretend to be Christians.
