The most common destructive addictions in our society are alcohol, drugs, and overeating. Recovery in these areas does not occur until the individual takes responsibility for his or her choices and recognize that they have a problem. Drinking alcohol and taking drugs can cause other bad decisions. However, decisions should be made based on careful thinking, not on the emotions of the moment.
As Christians, our bodies are considered temples where the Holy Spirit dwells. The Scripture say that we are no longer our own, but are “bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (I Corinthians 6:20). Dr. Betty R. Price outlines a course of recovery from addiction.
